It’s time to tinker again

I’ve been antsy lately.

It has now been almost three years since I’ve touched a consumer product — or really anything that can be seen, touched or experienced by anyone outside of my organization. Personal projects around the apartment also came to a complete halt after my daughter was born almost two years ago.

To keep myself stimulated, and maybe to help fill a void in my resume, I’ve decided to be deliberate about making time to workshop product ideas I’ve been thinking about and write about the process.

With a toddler in the house, I know this is a personal challenge. When her bed time or nap time rolls around, I’m often too worn out to want to do anything but throw something onto Netflix. I’m also a pretty slow writer, at least when I’m writing in the first person for an anonymous, and possibly non-existent, audience.

From past experience, though, I know that activity begets activity. The more engaged and active I am, the greater my energy and drive to be engaged and active. So I’m going to give it a shot. Maybe something interesting will even come out of it.
